Bisher muuten Endbenutzer zur Verwendung von Internet-Diensten verschiedene Benutzer-schnittstellen beherrschen, um auf die F ulle der zur Verf ugung stehenden Daten zuzugreifen. Wir zeigen, daa die Einbindung dieser Dienste in das normale Unix-Dateisystem einige Vorteile bietet: Endbenutzer kk onnen auf verschiedenste Dienste mit einfachen Dateioperationen zu-greifen, ohne die Schnittstellen der verschiedenen Dienstprogramme kennen zu m ussen. Dieser Mechanismus ist allgemein genug, um fast alle Internetanwendungen zu integrieren. Wir zeigen die Durchf uhrbarkeit dieses Ansatzes mit der Implementation eines Dateiservers, der FTP Transfers transparent durchf uhrt. Dieser Server wurde dann mittels der NFS Schnittstelle in das Dateisystem integriert, wodurch Kernelverr anderungen uberr ussig werden und die Porta-bilitt at sichergestellt wird.
